Ana Blue Grillo is an award-winning photographer, filmmaker and conservationist, who in 2019, calls Los Angeles home. Blue Grillo is a seasoned traveler with homes around the world. In the mid 90s, she began her freelance career with the Archdiocese in Baltimore, The Catholic Review, a weekly newspaper. Then after winning awards at Eddie Adams’ Barnstorm X workshop, Grillo went onto shoot for The New York Times, in Washington DC, during the Clinton Era.

In the 2010s, Grillo transitioned into Indie filmmaking and co-directed 2 feature documentary films. Her first film, “Camp Beaverton: Meet the Beavers,” toured the world over, screened in over 50 international film festivals, winning a special jury prize in Rio de Janeiro. On first digital release, Meet the Beavers held the top documentary spots on HULU for the 2014/15 holiday season. Meet the Beavers is still a film festival favorite around the world today. In 2015, Grillo moved to Chiang Mai, Thailand and planned the 1st Good Karma Projects: Nari Shakti (Women Power.) The Assignment: Great Himalayan National Park and the Women of Thirtan Valley.

In June 2015, Grillo led the first Good Karma Projects, and sponsored 4 teenage girls from India and one elder artist from the USA. The GKPs ages ranged from 14 to 64 years young and old.

Together, with many local volunteers, a team of 13 produced GKP’s first short film, “Nari Shakti: Women of Tirthan Valley.” Nari Shakti or Women Power, is about the women of Tirthan Valley living on the buffer zones of the Great Himalayan National Park, a newly appointed World Heritage site in Northern India. Good Karma Projects tells Stories about micro-financing and small business enterprises. Stories filled with hopes and dreams for their daughters and sons’ futures. The film, “Nari Shakti: Women Power”, continues to inspire thousands of international dignitaries, government officials, local women, NGOs and travelers passing through the Great Himalayans, each year.

Grillo’s work in Asia now focuses on women, wild elephant conservation and mangrove reforestation projects. Grillo is now in production for 2 long term documentary films. “Kung and the Beehive Fence Solution,” and “What is Love? San Francisco: the Mission.”

Kung and the Beehive Fence Solution is about the first beehive fences in Thailand and the Thai scientists and farmers who built them.

Former Gulf war USAF Airman of the Year, Honor Guard, Database Administrator and FWAM (fraud, waste and abuse monitor) for the US Air Force 6940th ESC, Blue Grillo shares this nonviolent conflict resolution, the Beehive Fence project, with hopes it’s scientific methodology can be used to lessen territorial disputes around the world.
